Milestone Heartstrings

Hey everyone! It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I took a break from WordPress for a bit, but today, I felt the urge to pour my heart out through blogging.

How have you all been? I genuinely hope this year has been kind to you, and that you’re all in good health.

As for me, well, I’ve been alright. Okay, maybe more than alright. 2024 kicked off with a whirlwind of excitement and great health news. I don’t know if anybody recalls this far back but two years ago I had surgery in my left ear to remove cyst, called a cholesteatoma, my dr was afraid that the cyst had come back but after two MRIs, I have a clear bill of health …nothing found! Woo! Also, I’ve taken some incredible trips, been doing great in pottery class, started back to yoga and somatic yoga, and still juggling the hefty demands of my family and work life – it’s been a rollercoaster.

Life has been a series of beautiful chaos, leaving me little time to express myself here. Hence, the blogging hiatus. Which I hope you understand. 😊

But what’s weighing on my mind today is our eldest daughter- again, over good things, and, how time slips through our fingers so swiftly. She’s graduating from high school in just over 30 days – can you believe it? I have an 18-year-old daughter who’s about to spread her wings… heading off to university. It feels surreal.

I can barely type as I’m flooded with emotions. So I will use talk to text, hope it all makes sense when I am done. 😂

My daughter holds a special place in my heart – both of my girls do. Every child does for their moms. Both of my daughters are great kids and they are my favorite people. I love being in this trio. Oh so much!! But my first born… the one who made me a mother for the first time. I loved her before I could meet her and when I finally saw her, gosh, she captured my heart – flashing her sparkling blue eyes and that magical toothless grin.

I can still recall bringing her to preK, feels like just yesterday! She was bursting with enthusiasm, she has always been an academic person. Loves loves LOVES to learn. Eagerly watching and learning every detail from as young as a few months old. She was singing at mere months old. She loved and still loves music. She started to read small words when she was just reaching two years old and loved every book she met. She is still a voracious reader. She started to draw almost from birth and is a wonderfully talented woman. No matter what we did she wanted more. She just wanted to learn everything. Her brain is like a sponge. God bless her. 🙏🏻

And now she will be off to university come August.

She got accepted into the university’s honors college in biology – a pre-med track, which is an amazing opportunity. And she will only be about an hour and forty-five minutes away, so not terribly far. I’m trying to hold back my tears.. and anxiety ..and just trying to focus on the good things to come for her. All the new teachers, advisors and friends, campus life in the honors college, and classes, and fun ..and all the experiences.

Growing up.

From her first breath to this very moment, she’s shaped me in ways I never thought possible…

So here’s to you, my dear daughter, as you embark on this exciting journey. May you chase your dreams with unwavering determination, knowing that I’ll always be here cheering you on, every step of the way. And though our roles may shift and evolve, one thing will always remain constant – my endless love for you!

You are going to do great things as a Minuteman! Well.. MinuteWoman! 😉
