The Book of Love

Posting a song which I find appropriate with Valentine’s Day creeping up on us. It’s The Airborne Toxic Event’s cover of the Magnetic Fields’ The Book of Love. Great song originally! But the ATE does it right.

I’ve snagged the lyrics and embedded a link below to their video, start it at 1:10. The link is of their performance at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in 2010. It sounds amazing, and I hope to catch this band live when they are in Boston. I really hope. They will be here in May, and I’ve hinted to the Mr. So!!

It’s a wonderful song. Enjoy.

The Book of Love
The book of love is long and boring
No one can lift the damn thing
It’s filled with charts and facts and figures
And instructions for dancing

but

I…I love it when you read to me and
You…You can read me anything

The book of love has music in it
In fact that’s where music comes from
Some of it is just transcendental
Some of it is just really dumb

but

I…I love it when you sing to me and
You…You can sing me anything

The book of love is long and boring
And written many years ago
It’s full of flowers and heart-shaped boxes
And things we’re all too young to know

but I…I love it when you give me things and
You…You ought to give me wedding rings

I…I love it when you give me things and
You…You ought to give me wedding rings
