I see France …Day 13

Hello everybody! I’m coming to you from my kitchen. Cooking a vegetarian dinner tonight because I need to get some produce outta the fridge. Hope you are all doing well and enjoying this Tuesday.

Let’s get right into day 13, our last full day in Cassis, France. It was nothing short of spectacular. Ahh, I miss it!

Let’s…get into it.

Day 13- July 17

We split up our morning a bit. We slept in a little then my husband went to take a hike!…over to the Calanques state park. So us girls could shower, do our hair and feel normal. It was another sweltering day, as you will see, my face and soul melts as the day progresses.

Anyways. 😆

Our day unofficially began together closer to noon after my husband returned from his hike. And we started off with a leisurely walk into town. As I have said before, the narrow cobblestone streets of Cassis exude old-world charm, so quaint and beautiful. The scent of freshly baked croissants and coffee wafted through the air still and CREPES too. We found a quaint little café along the harbor and indulged in a delightful brunch of crepes; simply heavenly.

After brunch, we walked around the downtown more and shopped. Bought more souvenirs, chilled out with drinks and then we embarked on our reservations- an adventure that was so much fun – an electric boat tour of the Calanques. The Calanques are these magnificent limestone cliffs with deep turquoise coves that stretch along the Mediterranean coast. The rugged beauty of the rocky inlets and clear waters was something out of a dream- I was absolutely amazed and happy.

As we glided on the calm sea, I couldn’t help but be captivated by the sheer grandeur of the cliffs. Majestic. The boat was perfect and we were seated in two rows, we split up two by two – each parent with a daughter. Seated next to us was an elderly couple who were native of Cassis but their only son was a resident on Boston! It was so nice to chitchat with them about back home.

The boat took us through several of these Calanques, each with its unique charm.. It was as though we had entered a hidden paradise. I couldn’t resist taking countless photos, hoping to capture even a fraction of the breathtaking scenery. We stopped into the third inlet of the Calanques. The captain and his skipper opened up their bar to serve drinks and appetizers. Then they opened up their boat for folks to go swim. We watched locals cliff dive, which was INSANE! The cliffs are at least fifty feet high!

The tour ended with the skies just beginning to dim, around 8:30PM. It was a beautiful and fantastic experience. After our adventure, we made our way back to our cozy place. We stopped along the way to order a variety of pizza slices for dinner: eggplant, mushroom, sausage, and classic margherita.

We sat on our balcony, with the pizza, wine that we had bought previously and enjoyed our view overlooking the sparkling Mediterranean. The sunset was a masterpiece. The sky painted hues of orange, pink, and purple, casting a warm glow over the Calanques in the distance. And on us along the balcony.

We all grew tired and we bid Cassis a quick goodnight before jumping into bed, knowing that it would forever hold a special place in our hearts.

I think it’s time for me to get going to finish this dinner before family gets home, so I am going to jet. Roasted vegetable sandwiches w goat cheese may just be my favorite meal.

Hope you enjoyed catching up. Thank you for stopping by, your support is always appreciated and welcome. ❤️ Have a great night, guys!

till next time xo
