Our Easter Egg Hunt 2013

Our Annual Easter Egg Hunt went off yesterday without a hitch!

The snow outside made it a touch of an obstacle.  We had to set the hunt inside the house…using the living room as the hunting grounds. But with 250 filled plastic eggs, and 8 children, it was more like an egg wonderland than a hunt. Colored eggs were everywhere in sight! We had made the living room the scene at our first hunt, because the children were so little; my children were 3yr & 1yr! So, it brought back some good memories.

My nieces and nephews arrived, dressed adorably and with their Easter baskets in hand. They all began scouting the hunting ground; colorful, plastic eggs in every nook and cranny of the room. It was sweet since the living room is right as you walk into the house. When the hunt started, the little ones went first, and then my kids, nieces and nephews. They found every egg and had a great time swapping their prizes afterward.

The bright smiles, sweet giggles, and gleam in my girls’ eyes, makes hosting the hunt worth it.

It was a yummy potluck get together. My parents brought a massive broccoli frittata, that rocked, and vanilla pizzelle. My in laws brought the cutest chick themed deviled eggs and veggies. My sister brought a fantastic cheese and olive platter. My sister in law made the best cream cheese brownies I’ve had in ages. My good friends made a traditional Easter cake from their families region in Italy. And, we made a huge vegetarian pesto panini, orange chocolate covered strawberries that looked like carrots, and, then we put together chips n dip, grapes, and a lemonade and iced tea bar.

Vegetarian Panini with pesto
Vegetarian Panini w/ pesto- sorta upset that I overfilled them, as they came out a bit squished; so I had to cut them into shape.  Oh well.  They still tasted great…and we have a ton of roasted vegetables for tonight! 🙂
